Part 3: Río Perdido Hotel & Thermal River… Meditation’s Pleasure

*More details about its attractions.

Mmm… Volcanic mud just at South of the thermal canyon’s main access of Río Perdido. Here is a special pool of the hot river designed specifically for the distinctive volcanic mud treatment. This particular mud of high quality contains a lot of natural compounds, including Sulfur.

But, if your thing is Yoga, at the canyon’s side, this activity is being practiced at a level called “Very-Well-Done Meditation,” due to the fact that the unique and hidden Río Perdido’s environment is the perfect setting for reflection and meditation. While the thermal-mineral swimming pools at the thermal canyon and at the springs allow the guests to jump between the warm and cold water, three mineral swimming pools provide a space to explore the charming temperature variations allowed by the environment.

The Spa “Bienestar” (“Well-being”) is a special place if you want to treat an old injury or simply relax, although an ordinary bath in any thermal water would be the ideal beginning to pamper your body.    “Hiking” is ideal in this place for those visitors who are looking for the exploration of the nearby zone taking walks. The walks generally end in panoramic viewpoints, one of them is very attractive, it is called “MESA NORTE” (“NORTH TABLE”). In this place, from the peak, one can see all the Guanacaste Province Volcanoes, including Miravalles Volcano, Rincón de la Vieja Volcano, and Tenorio Volcano.

Other interesting experiences with more adrenalin in this place are “Tubing” at Río Blanco and “Tubing” at Río Perdido where modern equipment is safely applied for the people who participate in them.

Río Perdido Hotel & Thermal River currently offers the Original East Bungalows and the Center Bungalows. The last ones have a wider space and a “corbel” balcony: Its rear façade’s width is of 40 feet and it has windows from the floor to the ceiling. This allows a panoramic and gleaming view to the forest, including the volcanic rock floors of local origin and the teak wood panels. There is no more to tell about this place, because it deserves your live and direct visit. Río Perdido is waiting for you as part of your visit to Costa Rica. Part 1: A Natural Treasure to Visit

In San Bernardo de Bagaces lowlands, in our Guanacaste Province, there is an incredible and maybe called “the only one” for many visitors. Its name is “Río Perdido Hotel & Thermal River.”

It becomes more special, due to the elevated peninsula, formed by two converging canyons. This means that the cold-water-river “Río Blanco” (White River) joins the thermal waters of “Río Perdido” (Lost River), making a final “touch” in a third tributary.

An interesting data is that the trees that grow in these canyons are huge, because they have an annual nutritive, mineralized water source. They grow up to 10 times more than the dwarf trees that are on the dry soils located in higher lands. These big trees can be as tall as the same canyon. This is a wonderful experience in sight!!

In the rainy season, when all the foliage is plentiful and green, the canyon practically disappears from the eyesight. In addition, a bird flying over the same canyon could not be seen due to the plentiful river’s camouflage. It is indeed a lost river… This is the origin of its name: “Río Perdido” (Lost River).

This natural treasure was greatly inspiring this project’s development. Several years were dedicated to work in order to make this place accessible to the visitors in a sustainable way in which its natural beauty would be never endangered. It joins all the key elemental services in one main building, with three areas that cover less than the 1% of all the nature reserve. It uses almost all the existent trails, avoiding the deforestation. Next week, we will be back with the second part of this interesting project.

Conchal Beach… A real resting place to be known

As many people have heard, the Costa Rican Beaches are one of the main country’s treasures to be known. There are many beautiful and different kind of beaches in the Pacific and in the Caribbean Coast. Some of those beaches are quite different among them due to the fact of their sand color. This is the case of Conchal Beach, located in Guanacaste, at the Pacific Coast. Conchal is recognized for its white sand composed by miniature shells. This beach has its contrast on the crystalline light blue and green sea water colors.

For this reason, our Blog went to Conchal Beach. It is located six hours in car from San José. We were driving a comfortable tall vehicle Daihatsu Bego, we got it at National Rent a Car, in Costa Rica. This place has always prepared us an excellent package tour to make long travels in the country. It contains all coverages, good car quality, and support.
Only the route getting to Liberia City was amazing to see the first beaches that are along the way. We stopped once or several times to drink a coffee with a delicious typical breakfast that cannot be absent for our tourists.

This time, our place to stay was the Westin Golf Resort & Spa Playa Conchal, an All Inclusive Resort. This time was our first experience there.  We arrived to a fully personalized attention with a high standard on its food service. It also has a high standard service on its rooms’ presentation. We could see all that since the first day. Of course, the first thing we did was going to our room to change our clothes to go directly to enjoy the white-shell-beach and its beautiful dusk.

We stayed in that hotel during three full days. We were surrounded by its lush and green vegetation. The people who work there are so kind to the customers with an excellent attention for them.   It is very pleasant that we could savor every dish prepared with fresh seafood, drinking a good refreshing beverage. This is a place to come back and take areal rest.

A strategic place to lodge

This time, we looked for a hotel which is not so big and very comfortable. But, it had also to be of a very good rate for a Canadian family that will visit the country for a familiar activity: a wedding. For the first time in Costa Rica, one part of this family’s interests is taking some one-day-tours and visiting the nearby provinces that are amazing for their beaches and volcanoes.

We arrived there because it was recommended by a San Antonio de Belén’s local inhabitant. Vista de Golf Hotel is a “Boutique” hotel with 38 rooms. It is strategically located in a place that is only 15 minutes driving from Juan Santamaría International Airport. It is located only 300 meters from the new National Convention Center. This is an excellent location to go to the main touristic places of the country. Here, we can also find great offers for tours and activities that the guests can get and coordinate at the front-desk. Additionally, the Internet is offered in all the hotel, so this is an excellent choice for business visitors.

This hotel is for tourists who are going from San José to beach or mountain destinations. It is also for people that come to sleep their first and last night in Costa Rica.  The most important detail is that we realized that this hotel’s night rates are very competitive and attractive. The rates are from $70 dollars, offering  the visitor a wider possibility on his/her travelling pocket. So, one can spend it in tours, or on the other hand, one can go shopping. The tours and shopping are planned in a Costa Rican National way. More information: www.hotelvistadegolf.com   Location: Avenida La Marina, Ciudad Cariari, 300 meters West from the Fresh Market.
